Information released under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations (2004 (EIRs) provide the general right of access to information held by public authorities.

The EIRs establish an access regime that allows people to request environmental information from public authorities and those bodies carrying out a public function. Both the FOIA and EIR are enforced by the Information Commissioner's Office.

At the end of this page are links for each year to information released by the Food Standards Agency and its former executive agency, the Meat Hygiene Service, in response to FOI/EIR requests that may be of wider public interest. Summaries of FOI/EIR exemptions and exceptions are provided at the links below.

There is a link to the Agency's publication scheme document below, which may help you to find the information you seek if it has already been published by the FSA.

Our Disclosure Log provides a full list of requests received by the FSA that have been granted, or partially granted. These exclude normal business requests.
