SRM in intervention beef
Wednesday 26 March 2003
Since August 2002, there have been 20 cases where spinal cord (which is SRM), has been found in imported intervention beef (eleven from Spain, eight from Germany and one from France).
Each case has been reported to the relevant veterinary authorities for appropriate action to be taken to prevent recurrence. The issue has also been raised with the Commission through various channels.
The Board is invited to:
note the progress made in tackling the problem of SRM in imported intervention beef, both with the Member States in question and with the Commission.
