Local authority food law enforcement audit programme (England): October - December 2004

This paper sets out the English local authorities to be audited by the Agency between October and December 2004 and provides an update on the programme currently underway for July to September 2004.

This paper sets out the English local authorities to be audited by the Agency between October - December 2004 and provides an update on the programme currently underway for July - September 2004.
Audit Programme October-December 2004
Details of those authorities selected for audit, during October - December 2004, are set out below.
These are the final 8 authorities to be audited as part of a programme of 15 focused audits, to consider internal monitoring and 3rd party/peer review, including inter authority auditing.
Continuing Audit Programme
The programme of 20 focused audits, looking specifically at arrangements for providing statistical monitoring returns to the Agency on LA food law enforcement activity is underway. The first 8 audits were undertaken during April - June 2004 and by the end of July, 6 of the 12 audits scheduled for July - September 2004, will have been undertaken.
Liaison with LAs and LA Organisations
The local authorities selected for audit between October - December 2004 have been formally notified by letter.
We will also be writing to LACORS, TSI, CIEH, as appropriate, to formally notify them of the local authorities selected.
Liaison with Other Government Departments
Details of the programme will also be sent to the Audit Commission, Office of Fair Trading, Defra, Cabinet Office, Health & Safety Executive and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Media Handling
As previously, the audit programme will be placed on the Agency's website including links to the published audit reports when they are available.
