Michael Parker

Board Member
In December 2011, Michael Parker was appointed as a non- executive director of NHS London.
In December 2002, he became the chairman of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as well as a Director of its subsidiary companies until November 2011.
In 1997, Michael was appointed a non-executive director at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust and became its vice chairman in 2000, until his appointment at King’s College Hospital.
Michael studied economics at Brunel University and Birkbeck College, University of London. He then went on to become a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and was a registered auditor for a while. He is a member of the Health Panel and chairman of the Corporate Governance and Risk Management Committee for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He is also the UK representative of the International Assembly of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Michael is an external advisor to the Royal College of Nursing Audit and Pension Committees as well as a non-executive director of the Food Standards Agency. He is the president of the Sickle Cell Society and patron of the Big Issue, Malawi.
Michael recently became a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was awarded a CBE in the 2011 New Year’s Honours list.
