Consultation details
You may like to know that the commission has called a meeting of Member States on 28 February to discuss 'energy drinks'. The category for discussion is soft drinks containing substances such as caffeine, taurine and glucuronolactone, which are marketed for the stimulant effect. The meeting is in response to concern in some Member States about the safety of some of these products, including their potential interaction with alcohol. We have not yet received any further details; if you have views you would like us to be aware of before the meeting please contact Stephen Hardie (stephen.hardie@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk) by 25th February.
