BSE Controls Review meetings and papers
The Food Standards Agency organised a series of consultation meetings - all held in public - to ensure the BSE controls review was both open and accessible.
A Stakeholder Group was set up by the FSA to ensure that organisations with a special interest in BSE were fully consulted. The stakeholders were representatives of consumer, farming, meat industry, scientific and medical organisations as well as Government departments. This group met in May, July, September and November.
On 9 October there was a further open public meeting in York for any organisations, groups and individuals with an interest in BSE.
The draft report also went to the full FSA board in September and October. The review was put to the November meeting of the Board. The final report is subject to their amendments and will be published in December.
