Food additives legislation: Guidance notes

These guidance notes will help food businesses understand the food additives legislation. They should be read in conjunction with the appropriate legislation and should not be taken as an authoritative interpretation of the law, as only the courts have the power to interpret statutory provisions.

To be aware: This guidance is currently being updated to reflect recent changes to EU food additives legislation, which are currently in a transitional phase. Much of the guidance, in particular the points relating to interpretation issues, does however remain valid.
