Inland enforcement of imported feed and food controls: Resource pack
The local authority resource pack on import controls has been completely revised to focus on the important role that inland authorities have in monitoring imported feed and food and ensuring that imported food is safe to eat.
The main part of the pack (Part 1) provides enforcement officials within local authorities in England with appropriate information, practical guidance and advice to enable them to secure the effective control of food and animal feed imported into the UK. Please note parallel guidance will shortly be available for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
For ease of reference, if you click on a subject in the contents list or the bookmarks you will access the relevant part of the pack directly.
Part 2 contains Annex 1, which provides procedure flowcharts, notices and forms. This is provided as a Word document so that authorities may extract the forms for their own use.
Part 3 contains Annex 2, which describes controls at ports.
All references to legislation refer to the version current on the date this resource pack was issued. The Agency will continue to update the pack as appropriate. However, should you require further advice related to imported food controls, please contact us at imported.food@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk or call the helpline on 0207 276 8018.
