Product recall of Morrisons canned Chicken Tikka Masala 392g

Heads of environmental health services and directors of trading standards will wish to be aware of a product recall by Wm.Morrison Supermarkets plc of Chicken Tikka Masala in 392g cans due to contamination of one of the ingredients with the illegal dye Sudan I. The product was manufactured by Glenbrook Foods Ltd, Portadown, Craigavon Northern Ireland.
Sudan I is not a permitted colour under the Colours in Food Regulations 1995. It is considered to be a genotoxic carcinogen and its presence, at any level, is not permitted in foodstuffs for any purpose.
The Product Recalled Is:
Morrison’s Chicken Tikka Masala 392g
The batches known to be affected are;

Best Before End Jun 06 3155
Best Before End Sep 06 3251
Best Before End Sep 06 3258
No other Morrison’s products are known to be affected
WM. Morrison will be issuing a product recall notice in the national newspapers, which will appear as from 4 October 2003. The company has also placed point-of-sale notices in all of its stores.
