Contamination of Ritu's Garlic Curry Sauce with Sudan I

Heads of Environmental Health and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware that Ritu's Garlic Curry Sauce has been found to be contaminated with the illegal dye Sudan I.
Sudan I is not a permitted colour under the Colours in Food Regulations 1995. It is considered to be a genotoxic carcinogen and its presence, at any level, is not permitted in foodstuffs for any purpose.
The affected product was manufactured by Cerbos Impex PVT Ltd., 1690 2nd Floor, Arya Samaj Road, Karol Bagh, New Delhi 110005, India. The product is distributed by Mosscope Ltd., 161A Bow Road, London E3 2SG, and sold at outlets in England and Scotland.

Distribution of the Product
Mosscope Ltd. has undertaken a trade withdrawal of the affected product, notified their customers of the problem and provided them with point-of-sale Product Recall notices.
As a precautionary measure, Mosscope Ltd. has also withdrawn Ritu's Spicy Curry Sauce, 425g, 'best before' date: July 2005, Batch code: SRSCS 0104. No other Ritu's products are known to be affected.
