Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd recalls its own brand Mild Chicken Curry cans due to a packaging error
Monday 19 December 2005
Food Alert: for Information
Ref: 80/2005 (79/2005 Scotland)
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has recalled its own brand canned Mild Chicken Curry 400g size, due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect labelling information.
Some cans may contain chicken in white sauce and therefore do not show the correct ingredients or allergy advisory statement. They contain a dairy ingredient that is not labelled as an ingredient and not specified as an allergy warning, which makes this product unsafe for individuals who are allergic or intolerant to milk.
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has recalled the product from sale. Product recall notices have been placed in the national press today to alert consumers who are allergic or intolerant to dairy ingredients of the problem and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the product. In addition, Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign, which will inform all of its dairy allergic members directly via a mailshot of the recall.
The product recalled is:
