Asda Stores Ltd withdraw their own brand of canned fruit cocktail in apple juice

Heads of Environmental Health and Directors of Trading Standards will wish to be aware that Asda Stores Ltd has withdrawn their own brand of canned Fruit Cocktail in Apple Juice due to raised levels of tin being found in the contents of a small number of cans during routine testing.
The levels of tin found may exceed the maximum permissible levels of inorganic tin in canned foods as determined in Commission Regulation 242/2004
Asda Stores Ltd has undertaken a product withdrawal. Point of sale notices are to be displayed in the entrance of all stores. These notices will advise customers of the reason for the withdrawal and the actions they can take if they have already purchased the affected product.

Due to our commitment to the highest standards of food safety and quality, we have taken the precautionary measure of recalling Asda Fruit Cocktail in Apple Juice 411g. Routine testing has found traces of tin from the can in a small number of these products.

While there is no risk to health, we advise customers not to eat this code of Asda Fruit Cocktail in Apple Juice (411g). If you have any of this product, please remove the label and dispose of the can. Return the label to our Customer Care desk in your local store where you will receive a full refund.
No other Asda products are affected by this recall.
