Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd recalls its own brand Malaysian Coconut and Lime Soup Noodles Ready Meal due to a packaging error
Monday 20 February 2006
Food Alert: for Information
Ref: 14/2006 (15/2006 Scotland)
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has recalled its own brand Malaysian coconut and lime soup noodles ready meal 400g, due to a packaging error resulting in incorrect labelling information.
Some of the ready meals may contain the incorrect sauce sachet and therefore the packaging does not display either a correct ingredient list or allergy advisory statement. The sauce contains both dairy and peanut constituents that are not listed in the ingredients list. Although a general nut warning statement appears on the product there is no reference made to the dairy content.
The omission of the correct ingredients and allergy warning information from the label makes this product unsafe for individuals who are allergic or intolerant to nuts or milk.
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has recalled the product from sale. Product recall notices were placed in the national press over the weekend to alert consumers who are allergic or intolerant to dairy or nut ingredients of the problem and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the product. In addition, Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd has been in contact with the Anaphylaxis Campaign and Allergy UK who will inform all their dairy and nut allergic members directly via a mailshot of the recall.
The product recalled is:
