Bart Spices Ltd recalls all batches of Organic Purple Cornmeal due to the presence of excess fumonisins

Bart Spices Ltd has recalled all batches of its Organic Purple Cornmeal, due to the presence of excess fumonisins.
Fumonisins are types of mycotoxin. These are naturally-occurring toxic chemicals that are produced by some moulds. While the levels found are above the legal limits there is unlikely to be any immediate risk to health.
Bart Spices Ltd has recalled all batches of the product from sale. Point-of-sale notices have been displayed in all stores supplied. These notices are advising customers of the reason for the recall and the actions they can take if they have already purchased the affected product.

Internal checks have revealed that the above batches of product contain levels of fumonisin, a mould toxin which can occur in cereals, greater than that permitted under EC Regulations.
Any customers who have bought this product should not consume it but return it to the store where purchased for a full refund.
