Clackmannanshire is a mixture of urban and rural development set in the central belt of Scotland with the largest town of Alloa being situated on the River Forth. The population of Clackmannanshire is 48,530 and the area measures 15,700 hectares.
The Authority’s Strengths
Food Service Plan – A Service Plan has been produced for 2002/2003, which has been approved.
Food Premises Database – A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 10 out of 10 businesses randomly selected had been entered into the database.
Food Sampling – The Authority have produced a sampling programme. Examination of the sampling files indicates that Officers have followed the appropriate policy and procedures.
Control and Investigation of Outbreaks and Food Related Infectious Diseases – The Authority has set up and implemented a documented procedure. Investigation of the most recent outbreak has been carried out in accordance with this procedure.
Documented Policies and Procedures – A procedure is in place for controlling documents within the Authority.
Follow-Up Action to Year 1 Non-Conformances – These have been completed within the specified timescale and the audit file has been formally closed.
Key Areas for Improvement
Reports – Reports following combined food standards and food hygiene inspections, do not detail food standards findings when no contraventions are found.
