Enforcement Liaison Group
As part of the Agency's work to strengthen and develop links with local authority food law enforcement, a joint government/local authority group, the Local Authority Enforcement Liaison Group (LAELG) was established in May 1999.
This body was renamed the Enforcement Liaison Group (ELG) in November 2001.
The LAELG developed the Framework Agreement on local authority food law enforcement.
All the executive arms of the Agency are represented in the Group. Local authority representation encompasses food hygiene and food standards and feeding stuffs enforcement officials as well as representatives from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the Trading Standards Institute. The Group also includes representatives from key consumer and industry stakeholder organisations.
