Authenticity Surveillance Sub-group
The ASSG is a sub-group of the LACORS/ /Agency Sampling Co-ordination Group. The group develops the authenticity surveillance programme for the year. It is responsible for ensuring the surveys undertaken by the programme reflect the priorities of the enforcement community.
The terms of reference for the Authenticity Surveillance Sub-group are to:
- Agree an annual programme of surveys for the Agency's authenticity surveillance programme, which shares the priorities of local authorities' programmes and maximises consumer benefit.
- Use the sub-group's knowledge and intelligence of existing and emerging problems in food standards to identify new issues to investigate.
- Approve sampling protocols for use in authenticity surveys, to ensure that where necessary surveys are conducted at national level.
- Consider the outcome of authenticity surveys and advise the LACORS/Agency Sampling Working Group on any future action needed.
- Seek ways of improving enforcement of food authenticity issues.
