Code of Practice for England
An updated version of the Food Law Code of Practice and associated Practice Guidance for England is now available.
The current Code of Practice for England came into force on 6 April 2012. The Code was revised to reflect developments in policy in respect of the delivery of Official Controls for food. The key changes relate to the embedding of the recommendations from the Public Inquiry following the E.Coli O157outbreak in South Wales in 2005 and changes to the qualification requirements for officers to seize and detain food.

Practice Guidance
The practice guidance was updated in February 2012. A letter was sent to local authorities outlining the main alterations to the document.
