Update training for enforcement officers in England

The following update training is available to local authority feed and food law enforcement officers in England. These courses are part of the continuing programme of quality update training for enforcers at a cost that is affordable to local authorities. These courses are not available for the general public, students or consultants.
Food hygiene and generic courses

Imported food training (intermediate):
This one-day course is aimed at enforcement officers who have responsibility for enforcing controls on imported food, once food has been cleared by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs officers at points-of-entry. In practice, the course is relevant to all local authority food law enforcement officers.

Sampling and analysis of imported food for PHA/Port Local Authority personnel:
This two day course is open to enforcement officers who have responsibility for enforcing controls on imported food at points of entry throughout the UK and other specialist enforcement officers as approved by the Food Standards Agency. The course will provide an overview of sampling imported foods as well as discussing: legal considerations, practical sampling, understanding results, follow-up action, contaminants and risk to health.

Animal feed courses
Feed hygiene training:
The objectives of this course are to:
- Equip local authority officers with the knowledge and skills to enforce European Commision (EC) feed hygiene legislation, including an understandaing of the new enforcement powers and their application.
- Understand and apply the requirements of the EC Feed Hygiene Regulation 183/2005 to a range of feed business premises, including those involved in primary production, which do not require complex HACCP feed safety management procedures.
