The EU food hygiene legislation was developed over several years. These reports of various meetings show how it developed and continues to progress.
From April 2001 through to May 2004 there were the negotiations on the proposed hygiene regulations. More recently, the reports describe the development of the implementing measures and transitional arrangements regulations.

The Commission expects the current raft of proposals in the course of adoption (see previous report on SCoFCAH meeting of 19 July) to complete European Parliamentary (EP) Scrutiny around 25 September and to be adopted w/c 29 September or 6 October. They will be published in the EU Official Journal shortly after.

The Commission clarified (with Member State agreement) that the top priority of the review of the hygiene legislation (from among the issues to be dealt with by comitology) will be addressing the transitional issues that may need to be maintained permanently.
Publication of implementing and transitional legislation in the EU Official Journal - 25 October 2007
Following negotiations since October 2006, reports of which have been published on the web site, the latest EU implementing and transitional regulations to the food hygiene legislation have now been published in the EU Official Journal (OJ) on 25 October 2007. The regulations apply 20 days after OJ publication (13 November 2007).
