Academic workshop on nutrient profiling: 28 February 2008

It was agreed and announced at the outset of the Nutrient Profiling (NP) model review that an independent academic workshop would form part of the review process. Following on from the NP Review Panel's initial consideration of issues raised by stakeholders this workshop took place on 28 February 2008.

The workshop was attended by independent academics from the European Union and international community, who discussed aspects of the NP model that the panel had been considering. In so doing, the panel was able to draw on a wider field of expertise, benefiting from input on the very latest developments in the fields of nutrition, public health and nutrient profiling.

Conclusions drawn at the academic workshop will help inform the review panel in deciding what modifications to the model, if any, are required.
