The Cooking Bus has been running since November 2003, clocking up over 45,000 miles. Over the last three years, it has:

  • Visited over 100 schools and supported more than 30 out of school clubs and major events
  • There are over 6,000 children taught on the Cooking Bus each year- the bus has taught cooking skills to over 18,000 pupils and 2,400 teachers) and they make in excess of 20,000 dishes. Some of the most popular recipes are Berry and Lime Refresher, Fruit Kebabs, Baked Vegetable Samosas, Vegetable Parcels and Fruit Smoothies
  • The Cooking Bus has been in Hyde Park to support the AGH of the National Federation of The Women's Institute and (separately) to participate in Activ8. The children's TV programme 'Barnaby Bear' has been filmed on the Cooking Bus. Also the Bus was at BBC Good Food Show, November 2005
  • Celebrity chefs who have donned their whites and visited the Bus include Gary Rhodes, Gordon Ramsay, Antony Worrall Thompson, Tony Tobin, Jean Christophe-Novelli, James Martin, Lesley Waters, John Torode and Ross Burden
  • For October, the visits have not been confirmed yet, but they are planning to visit Rotherhithe Primary School and the Grow It! Cook It! Schools, but not Addison Primary school
