School lunches
Guidance for caterers on the compulsory nutritional standards for school lunches is available on the Department for Education and Skills website.
The Food Standards Agency and the Department of Health have jointly funded the British Nutrition Foundation to develop guidelines to help caterers provide healthier food. These guidelines, called Catering for Health: a guide for teaching healthier catering practices, was published in March 2001. Ask your school caterer if they know about Catering for Health, which can be ordered from The Stationery Office (ISBN 0 907667 27 9).
