Asda withdraws its Smart Price Crisps due to undeclared milk, barley and gluten

Asda is withdrawing its Smart Price Crisps with a 'best before' date of 6 September 2014 because the product contains milk, barley and gluten which are not mentioned on the label. This makes the product a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk (or its constituents) and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley and/or intolerance to gluten.

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk (or its constituents) and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley and/or intolerance to gluten, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where you bought it or contact Asda Customer Relations by phoning 0800 952 0101.

Action taken by the company

The company has withdrawn the product from sale and will contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the withdrawal. Asda has issued a point-of-sale notice, a copy of which is attached to this alert.
