Research Annual Report 2002 published
Monday 21 October 2002
The Agency has published its Research and Survey Programmes Annual Report 2002. The report is a compendium of the scientific research and survey projects, supported by the Agency, that were active during the financial year 2001/2002.
It also describes the progress and achievements from all of the Food Standard Agency's research and survey programmes under their appropriate themes and areas.
This year's report differs from the 2001 report, in that it contains additional information on the Agency's Surveillance activities.
Surveys form an important part of the Agency's work. For example, the forthcoming National Diet and Nutritional Survey (NDNS) will produce vital data on the dietary habits and nutritional status of children and adults in the UK.
The Research and Survey Programmes Annual Report 2002 will be of particular interest to the research community in identifying the types of research and surveys commissioned by the Agency.
This will help researchers, not only in the UK but also internationally, to formulate proposals in response to the Agency's research requirements, generate ideas for future direction and facilitate potential collaborative ventures.
In addition it is hoped that this Report will be of general interest to consumers in describing how and why research is conducted in the Agency.
