Update on applying EU feed and food controls

An update on the progress since September 2005 on the measures being taken to apply EU Regulation 882/2004 on official controls in the UK has been published by the Agency.
Regulation 882/2004 sets out general requirements for competent authorities, or enforcement authorities, that are responsible for checking that businesses comply with feed and food legislation.
The update provides information about the new national legislation being introduced in the UK to apply the feed and food elements of EU Regulation 882/2004 on official controls. It also gives details of the associated guidance material produced by the Agency and includes information on EU Commission implementing measures and transitional arrangements related to the application of the EU official control Regulation.
