Nestlé UK recalls Kit Kat promotional packs
Tuesday 29 November 2005
Nestlé UK Ltd has recalled two batches of Kit Kat promotional packs, because they could contain small metal particles.
The packs, which say 'Kit Ka$h' on the front, contain 10 two-finger Kit Kat bars.
The Food Standards Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.
The affected batch codes are:
- 52981012
- 52991012
The two batch codes affected have only been supplied to Tesco Supermarkets Ltd and were sold between 18 November 2005 and 28 November 2005. Tesco has withdrawn the two affected batches from sale.
The metal particles could have got into the product because of faulty production equipment, which has been fully investigated.
Nestlé UK Ltd has undertaken a product recall of the affected batches of the promotional packs. Product recall notices will appear in the national press on 30 November 2005. Nestlé advises that these bars should not be eaten. For a full refund send the multipack or individual bar wrapper to: Kit Kash Recall, PO Box 205, York YO91 1XY. A free customer helpline is on 0800 6378 5385.
Food alerts
Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken.
They are issued under two categories:
- Food Alerts: for Action
- Food Alerts: for Information
