Agency consults on farm hygiene
Thursday 31 August 2006
New enforcement measures are required to implement European Union food hygiene legislation on farms in the UK. The Agency has launched a consultation on the proposed measures.
EU food hygiene legislation came into force on 1 January 2006 and for the first time includes primary production such as farms. These measures deal with the hygiene of facilities and equipment used in connection with farming and growing crops.
The Agency would like comments on the proposals within the consultation documents by 20 November 2006. Although the legislation is the same across the UK, the enforcement arrangements are different in the different countries, so a separate consultation process is happening in each.
