We wish you a healthy Christmas
Thursday 21 December 2006
The Agency has issued some top tips to enable you to tantalise your tastebuds in the safest and healthiest way possible this Christmas.
The advice, available at the link below, followed research among 2000 consumers that reveals some fascinating insights into our Christmas cooking and eating habits.
It shows that almost one out of two people who prepare the Christmas dinner don't start planning until a few days before hand. Half of those plan it on the day and some don't plan it at all. Four out of ten have in the past cooked too much.
We hope our suggestions will help to keep your blood pressure down - literally - and help you to eat healthily, and safely.
The Agency advice includes tips on:
- How to ensure your turkey is defrosted properly and cooked right through
- How to check you're not overdoing the salt
- Alternative healthy meals
- How to use leftovers safely
What we say is: 'Eat, drink, be merry - and be safe.'
