Workshop focuses on emerging risks
Wednesday 28 February 2007
A workshop organised by the Food Standards Agency, in cooperation with the European Food Safety Authority, on methodologies to pinpoint emerging risks will take place on 5 and 6 March in London.*
The objective of the workshop is to identify topics for future research and cooperation. Experts from European and international organisations working in different areas of food safety, as well as representatives of the food supply chain, will attend the workshop.
Issues covered will include: analysis of the underlying causes of food safety incidents, approaches to incident prevention, first steps in developing a European system for the identification of potential emerging food and feed risks, and mechanisms for horizon scanning.
The output of the workshop will also be a first step towards greater cooperation on some of the emerging risk projects identified in the EFSA strategy for scientific cooperation and networking.
A list of recommendations will be shared with other international organisations and will complement existing work within the SAFEFOODERA project.
*Please note that since the original publication of this text all places for this workshop have been taken.
