FSANI picks up award at major agricultural show
Tuesday 22 July 2008
The Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland has won an award for having the best trade stand at the popular Castlewellan Show, which took place last weekend. The judges said they were impressed by the way the consumer messages had been tied together - from farm to fork.
FSANI has been bringing their ‘Take Note’ campaign to agricultural shows across Northern Ireland this summer urging farmers to keep better records which will help them to comply with the food and feed hygiene legislation. ‘Take Note’ has been warmly welcomed and is proving very successful, with farmers eagerly accepting the free notebook known as ‘Farm Notes’. Produced by FSANI, ‘Farm Notes’ is designed for farmers to keep with them and record activities as they happen.
As well as targeting farmers, the Agency has been promoting healthy eating messages, including the traffic light labelling scheme. Show goers were reminded that they should be eating five portions of fruit and veg a day, by munching on taster portions of fresh fruit salad. Needless to say, these have been going down a treat!
FSANI will be at Clogher Valley Show on 30 July, where staff will welcome visitors to their award-winning stand.
