Update on Julian Graves seed product recall
Tuesday 4 March 2008
The Agency has issued a second Food Alert for Information on the recall of seed products by Julian Graves.
Following the recall of sesame seeds last week, Julian Graves has also recalled a batch of sunflower seeds (500g), due to the presence of salmonella. Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause food poisoning.
Julian Graves has recalled the affected batch. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all stores that sell the product explaining why the product has been recalled. Anyone who has bought the product can return it to the store for a full refund or replacement.

Food alerts
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken. They are issued under two categories:
- Food Alerts: for Action
- Food Alerts: for Information
You can get FSA alerts either by email or SMS text. Visit the Get Alerts page at the link below to find out how.
