The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is renewing the membership of its Scientific Committee and eight of its ten Scientific Panels. Applications are sought from highly qualified scientists from Europe and beyond, with expertise in a relevant scientific field.
The list of panels can be found below.
Applicants should demonstrate experience in carrying out scientific risk assessment and have proven scientific excellence in one, or preferably several, of the fields in EFSA's remit. Selected applicants will be appointed for a three-year mandate and will join Europe's network of leading food safety scientists from summer 2009.
The deadline for applications is 7 January 2009.
The panels being renewed are:
- Panel on Animal Health and Welfare (AHAW)

- Panel on Feed Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP)
- Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)
- Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA)

The Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food (ANS) and the Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) are not included into this call since they were only recently constituted and started their work in summer 2008.
The call has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union and on EFSA's website. A full information package on the call for expression of interest can be found at the link below.
