Countdown to science festival
Monday 1 September 2008
The countdown to the BA science festival has begun and tickets are being snapped up for the chance to find out all you ever wanted to know about food, as the Agency takes part in the festival for the first time. As well as attending the event, you can also join in through our live webcast of our session on Dispelling the Myths about science and food.
In a special interactive session Andrew Wadge, the Food Standards Agency Chief Scientist, will be talking about all the latest food fads and emerging technologies, advising you on how to keep your food safe and giving healthy eating tips. Andrew’s event is taking place on 11 September at 2pm so book your tickets now to guarantee your place at what promises to be a fascinating and enlightening afternoon. You can book tickets at the BA Festival of Science website via the link further down this page.
This is your chance to find out what popular drink horse livers used to be added to for flavour, what a microwave actually does to food, and whether or not you can buy novel foods from your local bookshop. If these aren’t the questions you want answered, now’s your chance to get typing and email that burning question to Ask_Andrew@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk and Andrew will answer as many as he can.
If you’re not lucky enough to be able to make it to Liverpool you can watch all the action online as we are webcasting the event. A click of a mouse gives you a chance to hear the talk as it happens, join in the interactive debates and quizzes and get your questions answered.
The Agency is also taking part in other expert debates so if you’re going to Liverpool, see the link below for when you can see Agency staff in action.
