Front line enforcement staff who work day-in, day-out to ensure our food is safe, are the invisible heroes of our food-safety system. This month’s FSA e-News reports on how the BBC has managed to bring them out of the shadows by following some of them as they carry out their daily routines.
Some of the BBC TV highlights touched on the work of the environmental health officers who ensure that the Agency’s Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) is operated to the full benefit of consumers. Coincidentally, the FHRS features in the second of our main stories – on the joint launch of the scheme by the biggest grouping of English councils so far.
And with the Olympics and Paralympics exactly a year away this week, FSA e-News has a timely story showing how quickly the FSA was out of the starting blocks in the race to ensure food for spectators and athletes is safe.
Other topics covered in the newsletter range from farm inspections to tall ships. You can also read about the Agency’s annual report and accounts.
