Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd withdraws a batch of its toffee apples from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England, as the product contains milk that is not mentioned on the label.

Risks

The ingredients list states that the product contains butter, but makes no clear reference to milk.

Action taken by the company

The company has withdrawn all affected stock which has only been supplied to Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England. Customer notices will be displayed in stores to let consumers know why the product has been withdrawn and the action they can take if they have purchased the product.

The company has also contacted the relevant allergy support organisations who will inform their 'at risk' members of the withdrawal.

No other Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd products are known to be affected.

Advice to consumers

If you are allergic to or intolerant of milk, please do not consume this product. Please return it to your nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund.
