Working Party on Food Additives
This working party discusses legislative developments and provides guidance on research and surveillance on additives in food.
Terms of reference
To provide guidance and information on aspects of food additives and flavourings to the Food Standards Agency with specific reference to:
- the cost-effectiveness and relevance of research and surveillance on food additives, (excluding research on toxicology or intolerance);
- Assessing new methods of analysis to measure food additives and flavourings, and their applicability to specific food matrices;
- identifying current and emerging food additive and flavourings issues;
- keeping under review intakes of food additives in the UK, both by the population as a whole, and by consumers in appropriate sub-groups of the population.
