Working Party on Food Additives

To provide guidance and information on aspects of food additives and flavourings to the Food Standards Agency with specific reference to:

• the cost-effectiveness and relevance of research and surveillance on food additives, (excluding research on toxicology or intolerance);
• Assessing new methods of analysis to measure food additives and flavourings, and their applicability to specific food matrices;
• identifying current and emerging food additive and flavourings issues;
• keeping under review intakes of food additives in the UK, both by the population as a whole, and by consumers in appropriate sub-groups of the population.
