The Agency commissions research and survey work on a contract basis to develop and support its policies. The projects are managed by Agency staff and the results, including the underpinning data, are published on Foodbase, an online store for all the scientific research that the Agency funds (available at the link below).

About our committees
The Agency is advised by eight scientific committees (SACs), comprising more than 120 independent experts appointed through open competition. These scientists provide independent advice and challenge that is fundamental to the Agency’s work and reputation.

Postgraduate scholarship scheme
The Agency launched a postgraduate scholarship scheme in 2004 to help provide researchers with skills relevant to the Agency’s future needs.

The Agency’s Science and Evidence Strategy 2010–2015 sets out how we will use science and evidence to deliver safer food for the nation.
