Carrie Ruxton completed her degree in Dietetics & Nutrition at Queen Margaret University College in 1990. Interest in how social class impacts on food choice and nutritional status, Dr Ruxton completed a PhD on children’s eating habits. Over the years, she has published a number of articles, papers and scientific reviews on nutrition-related topics.
Dr Ruxton’s career began at the Sugar Bureau where she managed research for 5 years. Following a time as Chief Executive of The Nutrition Society, she then lectured at the University of Westminster and Queen Margaret University. In 2003, she set up a freelance nutrition consultancy serving both the public and commercial sectors, enabling Dr Ruxton to work with a wide range of food and beverage companies and trade bodies. Dr Ruxton’s public sector work has included writing two regional obesity strategies for the NHS and carrying out large-scale audits and initiatives to tackle obesity across Scotland for the Scottish Public Health Network.
Dr Ruxton is Reviews Editor for the Journal of Human Nutrition & Dietetics and a regular peer reviewer for other nutrition journals.
