Revised Meat Industry Guide published

The Food Standards Agency has published a revised and improved version of its Meat Industry Guidance, following a review by the FSA and a panel of agency and industry representatives. The guide has been restructured into 20 chapters, which are easier to navigate. We have also made it easier to identify the legal requirements, the useful tips and the good practice principles within each chapter.

Bravura Foods is recalling its ‘Peanut Hottie’ Peanut Butter Flavour Hot Drink because a packaging error means a batch contains Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavour Hot Drink instead. This means soya is not mentioned in the ingredients and the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to soya

FSA publishes strategic plan for Wales for food we can trust

Following the publication earlier this month of the Agency’s Strategic plan for 2015-20, the FSA in Wales has today published an Annex to this plan. This sets out what will be undertaken in Wales to progress towards the FSA strategic outcomes over the next five years and deliver the Agency’s strategic goals.

Maggi Noodles testing results released

The FSA can confirm that results from testing samples of Maggi Noodles in the UK have all found that levels of lead in the product is well within EU permissible levels and would not be a concern to consumers.

Appointments to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food

FSA Chair, Tim Bennett has announced the appointment of Professor Miren Iturriza-Gómara and Mr Alec Kyriakides as well as two reappointments to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF). The ACMSF provides the Agency with independent advice on the microbiological safety of food.

Distell recalls wines that possibly contain very small fragments of glass

Distell has recalled various bottles of wine because they might contain very small fragments of glass. The wines are sold by Morrisons, Tesco and Waitrose. If you have bought one of the products, do not use it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. The FSA has issued a Product Recall Information Notice.
