FSA Wales resource trailer
The FSA Wales resource trailer aims to raise awareness of food safety and healthy eating issues, with an emphasis on school children and vulnerable groups within the community.
The other aims of the trailer include developing partnerships with like minded organisations to deliver information on food safety and healthy eating in an effective way to different groups and raising public awareness of the FSA Wales and its role within Wales.
The format of the trailer and its size (21.35m x 12.2m) provides the flexibility essential to ensure that activities can be targeted at specific audiences. This may include:
- live cookery demonstrations
- pantomimes such as Cinderella, Bad Food Live and Jack and the Baked Beanstalk
- interactive computer games based on healthy eating and food safety
- runaround games with audience participation
- bacteria hunt with UV scanner
- static displays on healthy eating and food safety
There are also a range of games available to use on the resource trailer, these help to teach children the importance of a balanced and varied diet. The games, produced by the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) and translated into Welsh by FSA Wales, can be found at the links below.
The trailer attends events such as:
- 'Big Fat Problem' Roadshows, in association with Welsh Assembly Government and BBC
- Educational events throughout Wales, working with schools, local authorities and police
- Agricultural shows
- Eisteddfodau
- Food Fairs
