Alan Gardner - Welsh Food Advisory Committee member

Alan Gardner is originally from Montgomeryshire having been brought up on the family beef and sheep farm before running a sheep share-farming agreement in North East Wales where he reared sheep principally for meat. Alan moved away from full time farming and now operates a variety of rural enterprises; he also provides business and personal development training to farming businesses through the Welsh Government's Farming Connect Agrisgôp Programme.

He is a member of the Farmers’ Union of Wales and has held the positions of Vice President and Chairman of the Livestock, Wool and Marts. Committee. He currently represents Flintshire on the Union’s Grand Council.

Alan is a former director and board member of Hybu Cig Cymru/Meat Promotion Wales and chaired the Audit Committee. In 2015 he was a recipient of a HCC Scholarship, travelling to New Zealand. In 2006 he was also briefly FSA Board Member for Wales and Chairman of WFAC.
