Publication of expenditure over £25k

Supporting the Government's drive for Transparency, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) will be publishing any expenditure over £25,000.

‘Expenditure’ consists of all individual invoices, grant payments, expense payments or other such transactions that are over £25,000. Expenditure on paybill (salaries) is excluded from the scope of this publication. The FSA has followed Treasury guidance in preparing this data for publication.

A limited number of transactions have been withheld from publication (redacted) using the following exemptions provided under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 as a frame of reference:

  • Payments relating to pension contributions for less than five staff – section 40 exemption i.e. personal information, the disclosure of which would breach the Data Protection Act
  • Payments for official veterinarian services delivered within food businesses by a limited number of FSA contractors working to the same specification – section 43(2) exemption i.e. information, the disclosure of which would be likely to prejudice the commercial interests of any person.

Data relating to April to September 2010 was published on 31 October 2010. Thereafter, data will be published monthly.
