Guidance on re-enforced checks on seafood

This Directive sets out the veterinary procedures and requirements to be followed in order to import into or transit through the Union commercial consignments of products of animal origin. Consignments must be presented at a Border Inspection Post (BIP) to undergo veterinary checks.

Article 24 of Directive 97/78/EC sets out the basic principles required for RECs when a notification is made by a Member State through the RASFF system. This guidance will assist the understanding of the implementation and interpretation of Article 24.
