The approval of bovine restraint boxes for religious slaughter in Wales and England is now the responsibility of the Food Standards Agency. Any applications must be sent to

Application process

To apply for approval to operate a bovine restraint box in Wales or England, please complete the application form (below), sign and submit along with all documents requested in section 2 on the form (without these documents the application will not be processed).

Upon receipt of an application the FSA will contact you to arrange an approval assessment by a FSA Field Veterinary Leader.

There is no fee for the application/approval process of restraint box.

Once a restraint box has been approved then any modification to the design or installation of this restraining box will require a new approval.
