Who will this consultation be of most interest to?

Businesses that manufacture, import, wholesale or retail, plastic and /or recycled plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food; and/or food contact varnishes and coatings.

Port health and local enforcement authorities, consumers and other interested stakeholders who may have an interest in the policy and legislation on food contact materials.

What is the subject of this consultation?

The purpose of the proposed Regulations is to provide for the enforcement in Northern Ireland of Regulation (EU) 2018/213 in relation to the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) in varnishes and coatings that are in contact with food and in plastic food contact materials.

What is the purpose of this consultation?

To seek comments and general feedback from industry, port health authorities, enforcement authorities, consumers and other interested stakeholders on the proposed Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2018, and on the associated Impact Assessment.
