We have published a refreshed Welsh Language Scheme for the period 2019-2022, which outlines how we will continue to provide equal Welsh and English language services to our audiences in Wales.

Approved by the Welsh Language Commissioner, this Scheme builds on the foundation of our previous two Schemes and ensures that our commitment to the Welsh language remains relevant and fit for purpose. The Scheme applies across the Agency and is accompanied by an action plan, which specifies how we will implement the commitments made in the Scheme.

Richard Bowen, Interim Director of the FSA in Wales said:

Our refreshed Welsh Language Scheme will strengthen our bilingual service and I look forward to working with colleagues throughout the Agency in implementing the Scheme’s commitments.

We all have a responsibility within the Agency to ensure that the quality of our bilingual service provision remains high and we will continuously look for ways to make further improvements to this provision. We’re committed to providing a service that fully meets the needs of Welsh speakers in our work to ensure food is safe and what it says it is.

I would like to thank our Welsh Language Unit and the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Office for their hard work in getting the Scheme drafted and agreed.

We will measure our progress in implementing the measures within the Scheme and will provide annual monitoring reports to the Welsh Language Commissioner.
