The enforcement action preventing Russell Hume from processing and distributing meat products has been lifted at one of their sites after assurances that their food safety management system met the legal requirements were satisfied.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) are announcing today that they will be undertaking a review of meat cutting premises and cold stores. The review, which will be established later this month, comes in the wake of serious non-compliance issues identified at cutting plants operated by 2 Sisters Food Group and Russell Hume and will be industry wide.

We welcome first prosecution of a business for failing to display food hygiene rating in Northern Ireland
A Belfast restaurant is the first business in Northern Ireland to be prosecuted for failing to display a valid food hygiene rating sticker at Belfast Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 9 January.

Chief Scientific Adviser's report confirms that mandatory display of FHRS drives up food safety compliance
The FSA has today published a new Science Report by its Chief Scientific Adviser Professor Guy Poppy. In his seventh Report, Professor Poppy looks at the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS), and its impact on food safety especially where the scheme is mandatory.
