Whitworths Ltd is recalling its Milk Chocolate Raisins because it contains peanut which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts. This product is only sold in Poundland stores.
The FSA has published its annual report on progress towards implementation of the UK Multi-Annual National Control Plan (MANCP). The report, which is based on data collected for 2016, shows that overall level of compliance in all sectors in the UK was satisfactory when assessed against expectations.

A series of searches, carried out in a multi-agency effort across three premises in England, have uncovered a significant amount of what is believed to be 2,4 dinitrophenol, (commonly known as DNP). DNP is known to be sold illegally online and in gyms, as an aid to weight loss. Consumption of DNP has resulted in eight deaths in the UK since 2015.
The Food Standards Agency Chairman, Heather Hancock has announced the appointment of Dr Gauri Godbole and Mrs Ann Williams to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF). The ACMSF provides the Agency with independent advice on the microbiological safety of food.
