Board members being recruited
The FSA is seeking to recruit up to four Board members who can demonstrate achievement in a Board-level leadership role, a proven ability in strategic planning and in evaluating risk.
The new members will be appointed by the Secretary of State for Health and will need to provide evidence of having driven change and delivering improvement across a diverse, multi-faceted stakeholder population. They will also need a genuine interest and understanding of the issues relating to food safety, standards and nutrition.
This is a challenging and exciting time for the FSA. We have won recognition for restoring the trust of UK consumers in the way food safety is regulated, and have an ambitious strategy for the future to fulfil our vision of 'Safer food for the nation'. The non-executive Board is ultimately accountable for the delivery of this strategy through openness and transparency; all Board meetings are held in public and are available to view via the FSA website.
Experience in the food industry, consumer advocacy and representation, financial management, local government or animal sciences would be helpful.
